Balancing Tradition and Conservation: The Use of Turtles in Balinese Ceremonies and Its Environmental Implications

Congratulations and Success To I Nyoman Yoga Parawangsa, S.Pi., M.Si, Coord. Cluster of Biodiversity and Ecology, Center for Climate Change, Researcher at Warmadewa University Study Centers.

The research conducted by I Nyoman Yoga Parawangsa, S.Pi., M.Si, has resulted in a scientific journal publication titled “Balancing Tradition and Conservation: The Use of Turtles in Balinese Ceremonies and Its Environmental Implications” in the SCOPUS Q3 indexed journal, International Journal of Environmental Impacts.

This research examines the delicate balance between cultural practices and environmental conservation in Bali through the use of turtles in Balinese Hindu rituals. The Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC) in Serangan Village, known as Turtle Island, educates the community, preserves local traditions, and promotes sustainable tourism to protect turtles.

The perspectives of the Serangan Island community towards TCEC demonstrate that turtle conservation can be effectively carried out while meeting economic needs and preserving traditional events.

Colleagues who wish to access the publication can do so through the following link: https://doi.org/10.18280/ijei.070208.
