Drs. I Ketut Putra Erawan, MA., Ph.D.

Since 2008 – present, I Ketut Putra Erawan is the Executive Director of Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD), Indonesia. IPD was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on December 10, 2008, initially as the implementing agency of Bali Democracy Forum and primer support system for democratic promotion in Asia-Pacific region.
Before his current appointment, Ketut Erawan was the Director of Master and Doctoral programs in Political Science, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. He was also lecturer of the Master program of Human Rights and Democracy, as well as Master program of Peace and Conflict Resolution, Gadjah Mada University. Since IPD is based in Bali, he was transferred to Udayana University, Bali.
As the Executive Director of IPD and an expert in political science, Ketut Erawan designs programs and profoundly engages in supporting democracy and peace building particularly in Egypt, Tunisia, Fiji, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam. He also contributes in various meetings related to the emerging democratic powers. He is member of rising democracies research group founded by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace as well member of the Academic Committee of the Rotary Peace Center, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. In addition, he has served as expert for the Indonesian Government in developing package of Political Laws for the 2009 Election. In 2008-2009 he served as Special Advisor for the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia in democratic promotion.
